Carnival Phantasm Season 2 First Press (First Look, Blu-ray, Japan)

by TMSIDR

Nur auf Englisch!

Here’s another picture-heavy „First Look“…

Packaging:

The packaging reminds again a little bit of the one Aniplex is using (for example for Bakemonogatari), It’s well done and I really like the artworks.

Supplements:

There’s some promotional stuff:

A ~14 pages booklet offers character model sheets, two „talks“ (Noriaki Sugiyama [Shirō]/ Ayako Kawasumi[Saber] and Kazuaki Morita [Character Design, Chief Animation Director] / Tomohito Hirose [Character Design]) and two 4 panel strips:

I totally forgot that „Season 2“ also comes with some kind of artbook. This time it’s called „Carnival Phantasm Reading Book“ and has over 150 color pages. Beside character designs it also offers lots of promotional pictures for CP, storyboards and a manga at the end. The paper is quite matte.

The Animate pre-order bonus this time was a very thin mouse pad:

Picture Quality / Audio Quality:

Similar to the „1st Season“: It looks a little bit soft but thanks to the high bitrate it looks overall really good for this kind of show. I didn’t hear any problems in the stereo mix.

Menu Shots:

The popup-menu is so cute…!

Bonus Material:

For the second season another set of character audio commentaries is available. I’m not sure about the second character (I can’t understand the name), but the first is definitely Taiga Fujimura. In the bonus section there’s also an additional commentary for main part of episode 5.

Then there is a 3 part video extra (~8:34) where it looks like the masters are playing a video game with their servants in it while they comment on their gaming at the same time. I think some pictures can explain this better:
