Another series finished buying! I’m at the moment synchronizing the existing subtitles from fansubs to the series and I’m currently at Volume 4 and I hope I will finish this by next week, so I will then offer the subtitles. This volume includes the last episode of the TV run (13, Graduation), the home video exclusive „filler episode“ Stairway to Heaven and „ANOTHER EPILOGUE“. I have to wait for subtitles for the new stuff but the bonus episode is definitely a more comedic one.
Fitting to the last episode Kanade and Yuzuru are on the cover and a gorgeous group picture is in the inside.
A little bit promotion for some Angel Beats! stuff is included and as an extra a small illustration. Furthermore, a small introduction, pixtures, sheet music and background art are filling up again 12 pages of the booklet.

Audio: Japanese / LPCM Audio / 2.0 / 48 kHz / 2304 kbps / 24-bit (Commentary)
Both episodes have a commentary by the characters. The creditless endings of episode 13 and the bonus episode are also included. Furthermore, both web previews for the bonus episode are on the disc.
There’s also the „ANOTHER EPILOGUE“ with a runtime of 2:33 (including credits) on the disc which provides some kind of alternative ending. I need subtitles to really understand what’s going on. It’s interesting that „Next Stage“ is shown at the end.
They also put a very strange video (23:20) on the disc with some CG animals who talk with text bubbles to stills of the characters are perhaps interviewing Maeda-san (only a illustration from him is shown). It ends with the CG animals re-enacting the OP. I have no idea what really happening in this segment.
Similar to Vol. 2 a bonus DVD with the second Making of with a runtime of 47:28 fills up the second slot of the case.
It starts with the recording of the OP/ED by Lia and Aoi Tada including comments by both singers and Jun Maeda. Then the creation of the animation is shown including the concert scenes and the end the Seiyuus are shown in the studio and are also interviewed. It seems to be a very well made making of documentation for an anime and I hope that it will be included in a licensed version or that somebody will create some subtitles.
Please note that DVD screenshots are slightly stretched because the video was stored anamorphic on the disc.
Simple but with a nice background animation – I like it.
Picture Quality / Audio Quality:
No difference to the former volumes. Not extremely sharp but looks very good thanks to the high bitrate. Fortuantely, here are no banding issues I’m aware of because of the art style of the series that uses some filters. Audio is a typical anime stereo mix.
