Trivia zu Folge 11 (chronologisch)
Achtung Spoiler!!!

(Scroll down in the article for an English translation)

Trivia of Episode 11 (chronological)

Beware of Spoilers!!!

  • The unknown culprit is drawn like the culprits in Detective Conan (Case Closed) and Tantei Gakuen Q. Unfortunately, I didn’t find any screenshots that prove this, but I think the source should be right.
  • In this episode Haruhi actually speaks more than a few words to Yuki in contrast to the other episodes of the first season. Our human interface seems to take the role as quite observer very seriously when communicating with Haruhi…^^
  • At the beginning of Haruhi’s explanation meeting her laughter sounds like Naga the Serpent, a characterfrom the anime movies / OVAs of Slayers
  • A lot of poses of Haruhi look very similar to the poses from the Phoenix Wrightgames:

Itsuki’s poses copies Miles Edgeworth from the same games:

    Haruhi-11-Miles1

    Haruhi-11-Miles2

    Haruhi-11-Miles3

    Haruhi-11-Miles4

    Mikuru imitates Maya Fey:

(The pictures from Phoenix Wright are from an official artbook)

  • The music at the end of Haruhi’s „speech“ remind some sources of the theme of Detective Conan (Case Closed), and others of the „Cornered“-Music of the Phoenix Wright games. I wasn’t able to check this.
  • At the end of this episode Itsuki stares at a mole on Kyon’s neck. So far there’s no explanation why he does this.

This episode includes a number of references to Sherlock Holmes:

  • The first broadcasting date (May 22nd) of this episode is the birthday of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the author of Sherlock Holmes.
  • At the end of the episode Haruhi calls Kyon „Watson“. Dr. James Watson is the narrator of the Sherlock Holmes novels, so he plays a similar role like Kyon. There are some other parallels between both „pairs“: Watson moved as cohabitant to Sherlock Holmes, Haruhi and Kyon were placed on nearby seats in their class room; the curiosity drives Kyon and Watson again and again to follow their partners; both are reluctant, but follow nevertheless; both Haruhi and Holmes need an audience that follows them.
  • Suzumiya Haruhi has the same initials like Sherlock Holmes, perhaps Kyon has the like Dr. James Watson…?

References to Higurashi

  • At the beginning of the episode one person is dead and another one is missing. This follows the rules of the curse of Oyashiro-sama
  • Kyon’s eyes look similar to Keichii:
  • The indicated murder looks also similar to scenes in Higurashi
